Yummy!

So I mentioned before that I have had some frustration with Uriah as far as eating is concerned. I waited until he was 6 months old to give him anything other than milk, and then I was so ready for him to be interested in other things, but he wasn't! I tried so hard starting in November to spoon feed him, and he just absolutely refused! I felt like I was force feeding him; I got enough sweet potato, apple, pear, and carrot down to know he was okay with them, but we were both miserable trying. And then when he got a little older I tried teething buscuits, puffs, or cherrios but he doesn't put anything in his mouth...nothing! On Christmas day, he opened his mouth for a few bites of rice cereal; I was so excited thinking we had a breakthough...nope, he was just being nice for the holiday, I guess :) So I have been trying it a little here and there, but I stopped trying so hard. I figured he will let me know when he is ready.

So this weekend, he decided to open his mouth for me! I am so proud of him! He had 2 ice cubes of pear with some rice cereal! yeah!!! When I tried to sneak in some carrot he was done, but he did it!! And then he had a cherrio too! What a fun 'first'! I hope he's not a picky eater like his mommy :(
Enjoy some pictures. He turned 9 months just a few days ago!
Showing you his cherrio!

Snow on the beach

So it snowed here on Tuesday. It was so cold, I didn't even go outside all day! It was icy snow, not the fun kind that you can get out and make snowmen or anything. I did go out on the deck and write Uriah's name in the snow and take a pic :) But he stayed nice and warm inside! Here's a view from our deck; I think it's cool to see snow and the ocean in the same shot.

Cold Weekend

Oh, it's been so cold here this weekend! We just stayed inside yesterday and kept the fire going all day! For those of you who know of our wonderful beach house, the current temperature outside and inside are usually closely related :)

But we are managing well so far this winter, and Uriah doesn't seem to mind a little cold weather. Here he is playing and keeping warm by the fire (obviously not crawling yet)! Thanks for the cute outfit Auntie E!

And this morning on our way out the door for church, I had to stop and take a picture of Uriah's hair-do. I tried to fix it once again! It's just so fine that nothing keeps it in place, so that's as good as it gets! He's just too cute!! And thank you, Isaac, for this cute shirt! He's wearing it today because we are thinking of Todd as he is on a snowboarding trip with the youth group now!

"Praise the Lord"

"Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the Lord Most High is awesome..." Psalm 47:1-2a

Uriah is such a joy! He has been clapping and 'dancing' (wiggling his body) to music for the last few weeks, and this Monday I came home from work and Uriah was jumping like crazy in his johnny-jump up. Todd said watch this and he raised his hands and said "Praise the Lord", and as soon as Todd put his hands down, Uriah threw his hands up. Todd was so proud of his baby boy; he really enjoys the days he gets to stay home with him all day and just hangout while I work. Now, all I have to say is "Praise the Lord!" and Uriah will throw his hands up and smile!

Uriah clapping and playing in his high chair! It's his play seat since he refuses to eat ANYTHING from a spoon or put anything in his mouth...yet. We are working on it. (Do you sense my frustration?) He is growing and developing wonderfully so I decided to stop forcing him to eat; he will do it when HE wants to :)

Playing with daddy!

Almost 9 months! So happy jumping!

Here we are in 2009!

What an exciting time to start a blog! It's been on my "to do" list for a while (seriously I am a list person), but I just haven't gotten a chance to start one. So here is my start! I'm not a big writer, but I do want to post pictures of our growing family!

We are just getting back into our groove this week after having a nice Christmas vacation in Florida with Todd's family. And we just got news that Todd was granted a one year extension here, so we are staying on the Outer Banks at least until summer 2010 (maybe longer)! I have left that decision in God's hands and know He is in control. Although I would love to be closer to Texas and/or Florida, there is no guarantee with an assignment, and since we are well established here in work and church and friends, I am content with that decision. We know in God's timing, He will have the right place for us!

Uriah is now 8.5 months and growing like crazy! He has such an adorable personality; we just love him! Here are a few pictures from Florida over the holidays.

He is such a happy baby boy! I look forward to sharing more soon!
